Poglina Beach

The beach stretches for about 400 m, and consists of flour-fine clear sand, and indeed the Sardinian word for flour is poddine, hence the name of the beach. The fineness of the sand is matched by a turquoise water, often rippled by the winds making it a favourite haunt of windsurfers and surfers.

Pòglina is situated in Marina di Villanova, a locality of the Villanova Monteleone municipality just to the south of Alghero. It can be reached driving along Provincial road 49 Bosa–Alghero, and taking the turnoff to the beach which is signalled immediately after the road sign marking the start of Villanova Monteleone's territory.

The beach is quite well frequented, especially by families. It's well equipped and caters for all beachgoers' needs. Lounger, sun umbrella and pedalo rental is available. Also, there is a spacious parking area. Nearby are hotels, bars and restaurants, making this an all-round comfortable and relaxing holiday destination. The seabed is shallow, and makes the beach suitable for children and toddlers when the sea is calm. Pòglina is also a great destination for snorkelers and scuba divers, who can take underwater photos or simply enjoy the underwater environment.
